- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- ½ small onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
On medium high heat, brown ground beef, onion and garlic till beef is thoroughly cooked through. Drain grease.
Add to beef mixture:
- Seasoned (or regular) salt to taste – begin with ½ teaspoon and add to taste
- Black pepper to taste – begin with ¼ teaspoon and add to taste
- ½ of (8oz) container of sour cream.
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Combine these ingredients thoroughly with beef mixture. Set aside.
Cut 1 loaf of French bread in half (longways) place each half in a foil boat and set on baking sheet. Toast under oven broiler just long enough to get slightly brown on top, then remove from oven.
Next, spoon beef mixture down middle of bread. You can add as much or as little, this amount of ground beef will easily fill two half loaves of bread.
Next place slices of green bell peppers on the bread, 4 to 5 slices will usually fit, depending on the size of the bread and peppers.
Now lay 1 slice of tomato on each bell pepper
Last, place 1 slice of American cheese on top of each of the tomato.
Place under broiler until cheese has melted, it’ll take just a minute or two so watch carefully.
Remove from oven and carefully slice between each section.
You can serve with chips or French fries. Enjoy!
